The Rhode Island Airport Corporation (RIAC) anticipates an increase in passenger traffic at T.F. Green Airport for the upcoming February vacation/winter break, which begins Friday February 15 through Sunday, February 24.

To coincide with this busy travel time, the Airport will have various events taking place throughout the terminal on Friday, February 15.

Pass through the security checkpoint between 2:30pm and 4:00pm and stop by the Giveaway table to enter-to-win Providence Bruins flex passes or Providence College hockey tickets.  Johnson & Wales students from the Travel & Tourism program will also be on hand to assist passengers with way finding.    Providence Bruins mascot Samboni will be walking through the terminal, greeting travelers and taking photos on Friday from 2:30pm to 4:00pm.  The Providence College cheerleaders and Friar mascot will also be in terminal visiting with travelers.  At approximately 4:30pm at the arrivals level of the airport, the Rhode Island Kung Fu and Lion Dance Club, based in Providence and Pawtucket, RI, will perform a Lion Dance with accompanying Lion Dance music in celebration of the Chinese New Year.  The RI Kung Fu Club, founded in 2007, teaches martial and cultural arts of kung fu and lion dance to Providence-area youth.  The group will perform again at 5:00pm on the departures level.  The Lion dance is a meaningful and symbolic part of traditional Chinese culture; it represents warding off negative energy, enhancing and fostering positive energy, and bringing about good luck.
Passengers are encouraged to allow extra time to get to the airport early to park and get through the security checkpoint. Travelers can also park on-airport and receive special rates ranging as low as $10 per day to $50 per week. For more information and a discount coupon, visit www.parkpvdairport.com.
