Travelers will have some exciting and convenient new flight options at T.F. Green Airport (PVD) as Delta Air Lines increases its seat capacity and adds new service and frequency to a number of popular markets in Spring 2011.

Beginning April 1, Delta will offer new service to and from Washington Reagan-National Airport (DCA) with three daily roundtrip flights on 50-seat CRJ-200 aircraft for a total of 300 seats between the airports. Delta has been increasing its service to this popular business friendly location in recent months. Additionally, this will present a variety of connecting options for travelers. Flights will leave PVD at 7:00 a.m., 11:00 a.m. and 6:15 p.m. Return flights will leave DCA at 9:10 a.m., 4:15 p.m. and 8:20 p.m.

“Our new service at T.F. Green Airport will provide our Providence customers with convenient nonstop access to top airports for business travelers,” said Joe Esposito, Delta’s managing director – Network Planning. “With new nonstop service to Reagan National Airport in Washington, D.C., and Raleigh Durham, we’re continuing Delta’s strategy of linking the nation’s important business markets across our network.”

On April 1, Delta will add a new daily flight to and from Raleigh Durham (RDU) – another important business market. The 50-seat regional jet CRJ-200 will depart PVD at 7:00 a.m. with the returning flight leaving RDU at 7:10 p.m. This service is to another preferred corporate destination and will be a welcome addition to the Green schedule.

Additionally Delta also will add two additional roundtrip flights on 50-seat CRJ-200 aircraft for a total of 200 additional seats to and from its Detroit (DTW) hub. Seven roundtrip flights will now be offered between PVD and this destination, also effective on April 1. Departing flights are scheduled from PVD at 10:15 a.m. and 2:25 p.m., with returning flights leaving DTW at 7:50 a.m. and 12:00 p.m.

Strengthening its service between PVD and Minneapolis-St. Paul (MSP), beginning May 1, Delta will add one roundtrip flight on a 76-seat CRJ-900 for a total of 152 seats between the two cities. The new flight departs PVD at 6:00 p.m. and the return flight leaves MSP at 1:25 p.m.

Detroit and Minneapolis-St. Paul are key Delta hubs, providing travelers with convenient one-stop service to the U.S. west coast, Asia and Europe.
With all of these additions to its service offerings at PVD, as of May, Delta will offer a total of 16 daily roundtrip flights. This also represents a 47 percent increase in total seats for Delta. Delta is the third largest carrier at PVD. Since its merger with Northwest Airlines in early 2010, Delta has steadily grown its market share at PVD.

“This is a significant addition to air service at PVD,” said Kevin Dillon, President & CEO, Rhode Island Airport Corporation. “We are pleased that Delta is broadening its presence here at PVD by adding new destinations and expanding on existing services. I am confident that these additions will benefit business and leisure travelers alike.”
