Passenger volume now approaching 20% of pre-COVID levels

Warwick, RI –June 30, 2020 – As Rhode Island moves into “Phase 3” of its re-opening plan (https://www.reopeningri.com/), T.F. Green Airport and the Rhode Island Airport Corporation (RIAC) are providing updates for travelers regarding airport parking, available concessions, and new quarantine requirements for individuals arriving from states with high coronavirus positivity rates. T.F. Green Airport continues to closely monitor the Coronavirus (COVID-19) and are taking action based on guidance from public health experts.  Our passengers are our top priority and we will continue to maintain a clean, safe and healthy environment as well as address any customer concerns.

Quarantine: The Governor of Rhode Island issued Executive Order 20-50 on June 29, 2020, mandating a 14-day quarantine for anyone coming to Rhode Island from any state with 5% or greater positivity rate.  Those who have had a negative coronavirus test within 72 hours of arrival do not need to quarantine.  States with a 5% or greater positivity rate can be found at https://tinyurl.com/RI-Travel. Flight crews, healthcare and public safety professionals are exempt from the quarantine orders.  For more information visit https://health.ri.gov/covid or view Executive Order 50-20 at https://governor.ri.gov/documents/orders/Executive-Order-20-50.pdf

Parking: Starting Wednesday, July 1, 2020 all Long-Term parkers who would typically use Long Term Lot E will be directed to Garage B adjacent to the T.F Green Airport main entrance. Garage B provides covered parking walking distance to the terminal at a discount price of $12 a day with a coupon available at (https://www.parkpvdairport.com/) Short term parking continues to be available in Lot D, adjacent to the entrance of T.F. Green Airport. Garage A also remains open as the closest and most convenient covered parking option for passengers.

Food/Beverage and Retail Concessions: Prior to the outbreak of COVID-19 RIAC’ s Board of Directors had neared completion of a Request for Proposal (RFP) process to award Master Concessionaire agreements for new Food and Beverage as well as Retail Operations at T.F. Green Airport.  Despite lowered passenger volume due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Paradies Lagardère has agreed to a revised timeline to implement new retail offerings for passengers, while the selected restaurant concessionaire, SSP America, opted not to move forward in its proposed new restaurant concessions.

As a result, RIAC’s Board of Directors reached an agreement with Dunkin’ to continue providing food and beverage services in the short-term, while a mid-term Request for Proposal for two additional airport restaurant operations (based on current passenger volume) will be announced in the coming days at http://PVDAirport.com.

As of June 30, 2020, passenger volume at T.F. Green Airport is nearing 20% of pre-COVID-19 levels, reflecting trends seen at other airports throughout the nation. As passenger volume approaches 70% of 2019 levels, RIAC plans on issuing a new RFP seeking a long-term agreement for restaurant renovations and operations. The current T.F. Green Airport concessions include the Dunkin’ in the north concourse, as well as limited retail operations in the South and North Concourse providing snacks, beverages, gifts and other amenities for travelers.

RIAC continues to take to take additional steps to ensure the health and safety of travelers, integrating additional hand sanitizing stations and upgraded cleaning technologies to complement existing enhanced sanitizing protocols, including EPA and CDC approved hospital grade disinfectants, electrostatic sprayers, and automated cleaning technology to efficiently and effectively sanitize escalator railings and other high touch areas throughout the terminal. Travelers are also encouraged to practice safe hygiene, wear face coverings and check with individual airline policies regarding COVID-19 policies, including facemask requirements. Updated links to airline specific COVID-19 travel alerts and safety requirements, are available on T.F. Green’s website at www.PVDAirport.com.
