Travel Tips

Below are some helpful tips designed to make your travel experience at Providence’s airport the best it can be.

Arrive Early

If your flight is scheduled to depart between 6:00 a.m. – 8:00 a.m. or between 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m., plan to arrive at the terminal two hours before your flight, as those times are considered “peak travel” at PVD. For flights leaving any other time of day, arrive at least one hour prior to scheduled departure. Travelers should also consider arriving two hours before your flight departure during school vacation weeks.

Traveling with Kids

Traveling with kids? Be sure to check their bags for full size liquids and items that may resemble a weapon.

Summer Travel
Please clean your sporting equipment, such as golf clubs, before traveling, since any residue can set off detectors. Keep film in carry-on bags and remove laptops from their cases. Remove everything from your pockets and place in your carry-on to avoid being detained and holding up the line.
Pack Smart
Please check www.tsa.gov for a list of items banned from checked bags or carry-ons. Keep your prescription drugs, jewelry, and other valuables with you. You can use a TSA-authorized lock to secure your bags. Information on these locks can be found at www.travelsentry.org or  www.safeskieslocks.com. TSA screeners have tools for opening and re-locking baggage with either of these recognized locks, thus avoiding damage to the lock or bag if a physical inspection is required. Store toiletries and other small items inside plastic bags to help prevent spillage, breakage, or loss if your bag is searched.
