A Message From

Jonathan N. Savage

As Board Chair of the Rhode Island Airport Corporation, I want to welcome each of you to the Rhode Island Airport Corporation’s website.

I know I speak for all members of our Board when I express our collective pride for the hard working professionals serving general aviation and commercial airports throughout the state who have helped Rhode Island’s aviation related economy not only recover from the pandemic, but emerge on an even stronger foundation on which we can build upon for the future.

As with any success story, we owe a debt of gratitude to our many partners in local, state and federal government for the collective efforts that are making Rhode Island T. F. Green International Airport one of the BEST airports in the nation.  From our veteran board members, to our newest members with fresh and exciting ideas, to our legislative and executive leadership at our State House and the halls of Congress, all have played a critical role in efforts to ensure our state’s airport system can maintain and expand its role as an economic engine for our state.

Among the champions for our airport system is Senator Jack Reed and his fellow members of the state’s congressional delegation who have time and time again delivered for Rhode Island, providing critical federal support at a time it was most needed, allowing us to help our state move forward with infrastructure investments ranging from runway rehabilitation, to the complete reconstruction of airport restrooms to take us through the next twenty years of growing airport activity.

While business travel may remain below pre-pandemic rates for months to come, continued demand for leisure travel provides a unique opportunity for Rhode Island to emerge from the pandemic stronger than ever, as evidenced by the success of our many new non-stop routes to major commerce centers such as Los Angeles, New York and Chicago, as well as new and returning leisure destinations such as Cancun, Colorado, South Carolina and Florida to name just a few.

As we look forward to our state’s recovery, we are especially grateful for the wise investments of American Rescue Plan Act funds by Governor McKee and the Rhode Island General Assembly to support destination marketing and restore the travel and tourism industry which serve as the foundation of the State’s economy.

Most of all, we are thankful for the strong and consistent support demonstrated by the people of our state, who honor us each and every time they choose to “FlyRI.”  The support of our community is one of the most critical elements of our ability to attract new airlines and new routes to serve our state.  As we enter a critical juncture of the state and nation’s recovery, Rhode Island is truly fortunate to benefit from the support of our community as well as leaders with the vision to invest in the future who demonstrate true leadership by working together to help the state move forward.

Sincerely,

Jonathan N. Savage
