Sun Country Airlines to begin offering nonstop service to Las Vegas and New Orleans from T.F. Green

Warwick, RI – The Rhode Island Airport Corporation (RIAC) announced today that Sun Country Airlines has doubled their non-stop routes from two to four with the addition of service to Las Vegas and New Orleans. In January, Sun Country was announced as T.F. Green’s newest airline offering non-stop service to Nashville and Minneapolis/St. Paul. The new routes will begin in September with promotional rates as low as $89.00* each way. Ticket purchases are available now at www.suncountry.com.

“Sun Country is an airline on the move and we appreciate that they have included us in their expansion plans,” said Iftikhar Ahmad, president and CEO of the Rhode Island Airport Corporation. “Each new route strengthens Rhode Island’s economy and provides a greater and more economical travel options for Rhode Island.”

“As we begin service in Providence today, we’re excited to already announce more service to bring residents to these two great vacation destinations,” said Chief Commercial Officer Ted Botimer. “We’ve been very pleased with the response to our entrance into the market and look forward to our continued partnership with the Rhode Island Airport Corporation.”

Green is one of the best, most convenient airports in the country.”

“Sun Country Airlines doubling down on their presence at T.F. Green is great news for Rhode Island travelers and businesses,” said Senate Majority Leader Michael J. McCaffrey. “I know many Rhode Islanders will want to take advantage of the new non-stop service to these two exciting destinations.”

“As business at our airport expands and airlines continue to offer more flights, that’s great news for the economy and tourism of Rhode Island,” said Rep. Brian Patrick Kennedy, Speaker Pro Tempore of the House of Representatives. “T.F. Green is already one of the best places to fly in the country. The expansion by Sun Country Airlines of direct, non-stop flights is proof that our airport continues to head in the right direction.”

“These new, non-stop flights to New Orleans and Las Vegas are an exciting and welcome addition to the ever-growing list of service areas provided by T. F. Green,” Mayor Joseph Solomon said. “Every time a new destination is added, it opens the doors of possibility for visitors to come and experience all that Warwick and the state has to offer.”

“It’s exciting that Sun Country is already expanding its presence and route offerings at T.F Green, one of America’s most convenient airports,” said Rhode Island Commerce Secretary Stefan Pryor. “These flights to Las Vegas and New Orleans will be utilized by business travelers and tourists alike, spurring new revenues and opportunities for our state.”

The Las Vegas route will begin on September 5 and the New Orleans route will begin on September 6. In addition to the new flights to Las Vegas and New Orleans, Sun Country began nonstop service from Providence, Rhode Island to Nashville, Tennessee and Minneapolis/St. Paul today.

The airline first added new routes beyond its home base of Minneapolis/St. Paul in June 2018, bringing on service from Dallas-Fort Worth, Madison, Wisconsin, Portland, Oregon and St. Louis, which brought the network at the time from 53 to 64 nonstop routes. Nashville, Tennessee was added in August 2018, Providence was added in January 2019, and the airline now operates a total of 95 routes across 54 airports, which marks a more than 80 percent growth in routes since June 2018.
