Governor Lincoln Chafee, the Rhode Island Department of Transportation (RIDOT) and the Rhode Island Airport Corporation (RIAC) are pleased to announce that travelers now have another reason to use T.F. Green Airport and the InterLink transportation hub. Special game day trains have been added to the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) schedule. Trains between T.F. Green Airport in Warwick, RI and Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, MA will be available for all home football games.

Train fare is $15 round trip and tickets can be purchased on the train. Train fare must be purchased in cash. Convenient, affordable garage parking at the InterLink is only $6.75 for a twenty-four hour period.

“A cooperative effort of RIDOT, RIAC, and the MBTA, these new game-day service offerings are a natural progression of the existing train service schedule,” said Governor Lincoln Chafee. “These trains are a great way for sports fans to avoid traffic, park at the InterLink, and ride the train to see our outstanding New England Patriots in action. This is convenient for both Rhode Island residents and out-of-state travelers flying in for a game, who can enjoy the easy plane-to-train connection at the InterLink.”

This is another milestone in the extension of commuter rail service and transportation connectivity in Rhode Island. The InterLink opened in 2010 with train service beginning in December of 2010. Wickford Junction opened in May of 2012 with weekday train service extending to South County.

“This new service is a great benefit to Patriots fans and adds to our already robust rail opportunities in the State,” RIDOT Director Michael P. Lewis said. “We’re glad to join in this partnership and provide an option for those who are heading to Gillette Stadium but want to avoid the traffic congestion that comes along with driving to the game.”
